MILWAUKIE ACADEMY OF THE ARTS

Greetings!

Welcome to the Milwaukie Academy of the Arts. Located on the campus of Milwaukie High School, MAA is a charter school that provides students with an educational opportunity like no other in the area. Students engage in meaningful and rigorous learning experiences that are tied together in and through the arts. The small size of the school allows students to make a community of learning built on strong relationships with staff and students.

You are encouraged to consider participating in this school, but you should know that it will challenge you. As a student in MAA, you will be invited to apply your best understanding and creativity in projects and activities that reflect higher learning. You will be expected to fully participate, produce your very best work, and present it to others. This school is designed to engage your brain and your creativity, to stretch your thinking, and to prepare you for what comes after high school. You don’t have to be a Picasso or Gwen Stefani, but you should be prepared for a challenge. The results should surprise you.

If this sounds like the kind of school experience you want, you should apply! Be sure to attend an information session, or make an appointment to visit.

Have a great year,

Mark Pinder

Principal, Milwaukie High School

MAA runs off the same bell schedule as Milwaukie High School. School starts at 8:45am and ends at 3:20pm. Just as Milwaukie High School does, MAA runs on a block schedule meaning that every student has 8 classes total but only attends 4 classes a day.
