College Preparation For Students Who Think Like Artists
We believe the Arts are conducive to powerful learning. By increasing the presence of the arts in all subjects we increase motivation, relevance and achievement for our students. We prepare our students with the creative and problem solving skills needed now and in the future.
Each year at the end of January, various arts colleges (10 - 15 colleges generally attend) from primarily Oregon and Washington are invited to come to MAA and talk with the entire student body of MAA for an afternoon.
Each Fall and Spring, College Campus Tours are offered to MAA students - usually made available to Juniors and Seniors. The colleges are in the Portland Metro area (Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA), Oregon College of Art and Craft (OCAC), Portland State University College of Art and Design , Art Institute Portland
ASPIRE (Access to Student assistance Programs In Reach of Everyone) is Oregon’s mentoring program to help students access post-high school education options, admission and financial aid information. The program began at MAA/MHS in 2011 and MAA supports the coordinator and works closely with the volunteers in the Center.
